Cannon Artes awarded the full set of water & waste water treatment facilities at South West Gas Field in Algeria
Cannon Artes has been awarded three contracts by Larsen & Toubro L & T Hydrocarbon Engineering Limited for the water and waste water treatment within the scope of the South West Gas Field Development Project in Algeria, the End Client being Sonatrach.
The SWGF Project, whose overall value is close to 1 bUSD, concerns the Central Processing Facilities on three different sites in the Adrar province: Hassi Ba Hamou, Hassi Tidjrane and Tinerkouk Fields.
For each site Cannon Artes has been committed to provide a produced water treatment package, a desalination and potabilization system and a sewage treatment unit. Nine packages in total with an overall value approaching 5 mUSD.
All packages are characterized by the highest level of modularization which is a distinctive philosophy of this Project. Sonatrach and LTHE set the goal to reduce the erection and assembling costs on site, a decision that proved to be wise considering the difficulties of travel and mobilization caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In detail, each Produced Water Treatment is based upon a set of compact and efficient technologies widely used in offshore installations: deoiling hydrocyclones and compact flotation units (CFUs) capable to reduce free oil and suspended solids down to a few parts per million.
The Sewage Treatment plants are also completely prefabricated and modularized. Technology is based on Cannon Artes’ proprietary BIOCLAR process: extended aeration coupled with “air-lift” sludge recirculation. Each system is capable to handle sewage from 100 people.
Last, but not least, the Desalination and Potabilization systems are designed to squeeze potable water out of dirty and salty brackish water from a deep well. To meet this goal each system features rough and fine filtration, reverse osmosis, UV sterilization.
Cannon Artes’ CEO, Mr Pasquale Punzo declared upon awarding: “We are extremely proud of this awarding. From one side it hopefully initiates a long term relationship with LTHE, one of the most important EPC contractors in the energy market, from the other side consolidates our presence in Algeria and the relationship with Sonatrach, one the most faithful Clients for our Company”.
