Princess, a global leading company in tomato canning production with Head Quarter in UK , started a project for wastewater re-use coming from the existing activated sludge system for boiler feeding. During seasonal phase the wastewater flow rate is about 3000 m3/h and boilers requested a make – up of about 90 m3/h . The old water treatment plant used fresh water supplied by the municipal pipeline with high hardness level and relevant cost. In order to reduce costs related to steam production and due to the high attention to all environmental issues, customer decided to face this challenge.
Water coming from the waste water treatment plant contains organic pollutant, and total dissolved solids. Cannon Artes and the customer were firmly convinced that Opex reduction and Environment protection could go “hand in hand”.
Cannon Artes designed a reverse osmosis package equipped with low fouling membranes able to produce continuously a permeate in compliance with the quality required for boiler feeding despite of all critical issues related to feeding water reaching also a high recovery (75%). The reverse osmosis was arranged on two lines each one designed for half flow rate. The package was also fully automated with a dedicated PLC.
Cannon Artes always places attention to all customer necessities; in that case, it was really reactive and able to guarantee the delivery and commissioning of the plant in “short time”. This was possible thanks to the perfect coordination of all internal resources: Engineering, Purchase, Assembly, Manufacturing and After Sales.
The package is running successfully thanks to the deep knowledge of Cannon Artes’ technical staff in the matter of biological process and membrane technology.
